So the power of electronics has aided the world of novels and films. The use of computer is also part of this electronic I am taking about.

A novel today is one wonderful way people get a higher percentage of fun. People are hungry to read everything that comes their way provided they can afford it. They just want to catch the fun, the thrills and get entertained. Now the use of computers/phones has even made this much easy. You don’t even need to visit the library or book store to read or order your favorite novels. Novel to me, is the original film, it really doesn’t matter how you see it. I know this because I am in the business. No film can be acted without a story line. And a story is first read on the pages of a book called a novel before it may be drafted into script and then acted as film or movie. However, a story line can be drafted in a script to be acted first and subsequently into a novel. This largely depends on the author especially if he is into film making or being contracted by a film company to help out with a script, which he may convert to a novel if subsequently permitted by the contracting company to do so.

Some people think film acting never has some guidelines. You can’t assign a roll to a particular character without letting that character know what the content is all about or the lines he/she will be acting from and all that. Now the climax is this, a novel makes a film. In fact a novel is a film written on the pages of a book for people to watch by reading.

Check out the cover design of some of my novels and see what I mean.

A time came in the history of man when people felt a novel can be dramatized and then came a popular period when Shakespeare became the center of attraction. He acted most of his novels on stage where many people gather to watch. I call that a live film or drama performance. I guess you remember Romeo and Juliet, that was actually a good film, it was a masterpiece. But these days, it is the cinemas and internet that are presently the center of attraction. People love the cinemas and they we always love it. I wish every author can get their novels acted on stage or shot into films and that would be an excellent combination that will undoubtedly reach a wider audience.

A good novel makes an amazing film or movie. In fact for a film to be acclaimed great starts from the novel, its rich content. Any film producer can see the market potential of a film right from the content of a novel. Most films acted today without a good story line will always be a mess. I strongly advices any film maker to have a third eye when reading content of a novel or a  novel turned script, to immediately determine the market potential. It is by winning the audience’s heart that will increase views and sales undoubtedly.

One amazing secret why you must read a novel(s) is that not everything written in it is acted or can be acted in a film. For instance a novel that got so much expansive material involved and a large number of people on its pay roll will definitely take a lot of finances and many low budget film producers who may want such film acted will want to improvise. What do we eventually have? You now have a film that either has a little or great departure from the original novel story line.

Film making is expansive and to meet the content demand of most novels could be extremely difficult. Now, only a novel before it is tuned film can actually give you the true picture in your mind eye what the author is trying to present to you as film on the pages of his/her book called a novel. You read everything as it is and not the other way round. Some film makers can also help some story lines contained in a novel and makes it seem better than the original novel itself when acted.

I think novel writing got an advantage over film making. Just anybody can write a story whether small or large and get it published. Here of course you get to read and understand the mind of the author in the storyline he/she presents intimately. But film making is different. To assemble the casts, put the logistic together and of course the huge money involved could be very frightening. Honestly, without a grant or aid, film making is extremely a difficult task to pursue.

Movies on the pages of books, is an exceptional title I carved out for your reading pleasure. You can read some of my published books here, please follow this link:

Is music actually a film? Now you have a content of music called lyrics and upon these lyric a script can be developed and shot into film. And the artist or musician becomes the main actor/actress but he/she has to sing, what he has initially recorded in a CD etc.

Well, we will stop here. However, I am going to be looking more into this in my next blog, I titled Converting poetry into songs.

This is Emmanuel Abraham, signing out.
