Converting Poetry to Songs
This
is one amazing secret hidden for ages that I am now revealing on a platter of
gold. Somebody once said the best way to hide any information is in the pages
of books because most people never thought it could be hidden there, therefore
they never bother to read.
Honestly,
books today are now treasure that should not only be respected but held in high
esteem. It must be sort after to digest profitable information that can bring a
dynamic change to one’s life or existence. Now, every thought in the mind of a
man must be written down. Whether it is the thought of writing a book, making a
film or a song it must begin from the mind. Thought is a creative ability that
God endowed man with and when properly put into positive force will yield
incredible results.
Poems
are abridged expression of one’s thought. You may want to write about a love
story that could be written in 400 pages but you may rather decide to write a
few lines that do not exceed a page. Just look at this. A poem I titled my first love which of course can also
be a title of my book.
My First Love
I knew I got it
My tender skin
always a sight to behold
My lips so smooth,
I can’t explain
I am an embodiment
of beauty
An amazing beauty
to behold
Now I meant him
His eyes spark fire
of love
Love that
captivates my inner mind
My body and mind
long for him
Now I found my
heart a prisoner to love
When will the
wedding bell ring?
When will guest
gather to feast?
Our love has come
to stay
Don’t let darkness
cover it
Not even the voices
of men quench it
This is love, love extraordinaire
The Heavens are
open
The angels are
staring
Even the earthly
birds are singing and gazing
May God may it work
Smiles as wedding
ring cross my finger
Now, you see what I am talking
about. The poem is simply about a beautiful girl who meant her first love and
gave an amazing description of him and also prayed they get married.
I can make an amazing 400 pages
novel out of this, if I wish to do it but rather, I prefer putting my thought
into few lines. I mean, poem it!
Now listen very carefully, this
poem I have written above clearly show you can turn that poem into a song by
simply adjusting it into a more beautiful lyric that can fall into beautiful
beats in the studio. When this is done,
you have simply converted the above poem into a song for the world to hear and
enjoy. Is this not beautiful? Sure it is and I am sure you agree with me 100
percent.
I
think we got some limitation here because not all poets are singers perhaps
they will always say they are not gifted to do it, I mean to sing. Well, that
may be true but I always believe one thing in life. When you achieve something
you can achieve another in quick succession. If you have read my article or
last post on my blog titled Novel
writing, publishing and Royalties. You
will agree with me you can be a poetic singer if you want to even if you think
you don’t even have the voice or gift but as it seems you have the poems which
can be converted into beautiful lyrics. I know you will be wondering if I sing.
Yes I do, I have an album already on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and many online
stores worldwide, I titled Gidigba by me, Emmanuel Abraham. You can check it
out and download songs of your choice.
Now
let’s go on. It doesn’t really matter how weak your writing skills are, I think
what really matter is your determination to improve yourself. When a man falls
two times and walks away in shame then he has lost the battle. But when he
stands up and moves on, it is obvious his victory is not far away. Hard work
and determination pays, don’t limit yourself to poem writing alone you can
convert those poems to songs today and let the world have a feel of your poetic
songs that will definitely thrill them and add to your income/personality.
